A film made for schoolchildren today would definitely NOT start with a man firing a gun. This film, made as an educational aid to go with a book, was a filmed voyage into one of the senses we most take for granted: hearing. In animated sequences, we see how hearing works, anatomically and scientifically. Making a journey from the outside world to the inner ear, it brings to mind Charles and Ray Eames' Powers of 10 and other art films of the time.
