This 1975 film promoted the work of Western Electric to regional telecommunications companies, both inside and outside of the Bell System. Both larger and smaller regional companies would have used Western Electric products in some capacity, whether W.E. was their main supplier or not. And the pitch in this film was not only on the reliability of Western Electrics products, but also the company’s agility in responding to emergencies such as hurricanes, fires, or floods.
Also of note: While women had worked the factory floor at Western Electric since before 1900, interestingly, 1970s W.E. films seem to show only women working on telephone assembly; men are seen in shipping jobs and telephone reclamation and recycling work.
